NATURE CLUB
This term we had such fun exploring the beautiful beaches, lagoons and rivers in and around Plettenberg Bay. Spending time in Nature makes us healthier, happier and smarter. We grow our muscles while we walk, the fresh air and beautiful views put us in such a happy mood which improves our physical and emotional well being and the interaction with nature allows exploration, discovery and learning in a fun and practical way. Nature Club also stimulates curiosity and creativity and encourages us to become environmentally conscious and good stewards of this earth. What an amazing way to learn about the world around us! DANCE & DRAMA
Over the past few weeks, our dance and drama group has grown so much. Together, we’ve been exploring through music, dance, movement, imagination, and laughter. The children have enjoyed dancing to different tempos, from joining in on action songs to learning how to move their bodies in new and expressive ways. Each lesson has been an adventure in storytelling and teamwork, sometimes bringing some of their favourite stories to life like ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, and other times following the path of our own creativity and learning to work together as a team. We’ve also taken our class into the forest, where fantasy play and nature blend. With instruments in hand, dancing feet, and big smiles, we can’t wait to see what fun lies ahead! ART CLUB
Children participated in a variety of art activities using mixed mediums such as fabrics, inks, pastels, paints, feathers, beads, koki pens, pencils and chalks. We made leaf mobiles, threaded beads, cut out shapes, made birds with feathers, drew houses and created dinosaurs from paper plates and toilet rolls. These art activities involve motor planning and problem solving, assist in eye to hand co-ordination as well as develop fine motor skills such as cutting, threading, pencil control and pincer grip. It has been fantastic to see how these young artists have developed over the past few months. Art also really assists in emotional development as children find the freedom to express their emotions using creativity as an outlet. CLICK HERE for photos.
SPORT & SCIENCE CLUB
This term the children enjoyed the variety of alternating between sports and science each week. In our science classes, we explored with curiosity and wonder, and learnt to use our senses more. We experimented with sink and float, learning about gravity, discovering static electricity, testing what happens when you peel a citrus fruit and place it in water, and finding out why an egg floats in salt water! In our sports classes, the children have been active and energetic, doing different activities using beanbags, hula hoops, cones and soccer balls. The children tackled obstacle courses that stretched their capabilities. They learnt new gymnastic movements, and also joined in on fun dance exercises. Each week has been filled with learning, sharing, and lots of excitement as the children build knowledge, strength, and confidence together. CLICK HERE for photos.
